How we research, write, review, and update our guides.

GetSideHustles exists to help readers make good decisions about side hustles. These standards explain how we research, write, review, and update our guides.

Our principles

  • People first. We write to help readers, not to fill keyword lists. We don’t publish thin pages just to target searches.
  • No guaranteed income claims. We explain assumptions, separate revenue from profit, and include expenses and taxes.
  • Transparent sourcing. Factual claims about laws, taxes, fees, and platform rules link to official or reliable sources.
  • Honest experience. We say when we’ve personally used a product or tactic. We never invent experiences, quotes, testimonials, or results.
  • Independence. Affiliate relationships and advertising never decide our recommendations.

How a guide is produced

  1. Research. We start from official sources (IRS, FTC, SBA, platform help centers and fee pages) and reputable reporting.
  2. Writing. Guides include practical steps, realistic examples, and clearly labeled hypothetical calculations.
  3. Review. Every guide is checked for accuracy, clarity, and missing risks before publishing. [Describe who reviews content and any relevant expertise.]
  4. Disclosure. Articles with affiliate links say so at the top.

Updates and corrections

Fees, eligibility rules, and laws change. We review key guides regularly and show an “Updated” date only when we make a substantive change — not for typo fixes. Found an error? Report a correction and we’ll review it promptly.

Use of AI tools

[State honestly whether and how you use AI tools in research or drafting, and how humans review and fact-check the result.]

In-progress guides

Some guides are marked “In progress” while we expand and fact-check them. These are kept out of search engine indexes until complete.
